Knightlight

Privacy Policy

Effective October 22, 2026

The short version

Knightlight: Learn Chess collects no personal data. It doesn't connect to the internet, has no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking, and everything it saves stays on your Mac.

What we collect

Nothing. Knightlight does not collect, send, sell, or share any information about you or how you use the app. The app has no network access at all: it runs in Apple's App Sandbox without permission to use the internet.

What stays on your Mac

To be useful, Knightlight saves a few things locally, inside the app's own private folder on your Mac:

  • the game you're playing, so you can continue it later;
  • your results against the computer (wins, losses, and draws);
  • which lessons and puzzles you've completed;
  • your settings, such as the board theme and sound.

This information never leaves your Mac, and we can't see it. If you use a Time Machine or iCloud backup of your Mac, it may be included there, like any other app's files.

Deleting your data

Deleting Knightlight removes the app. To also remove its saved games, progress, and settings, delete this folder (in Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder and paste the path):

~/Library/Containers/com.ivanharmat.Knightlight

Apple

Knightlight is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple may collect information about purchases and downloads under Apple's own privacy policy. We don't receive personal information from Apple about you.

Children

Knightlight is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no data from anyone, it collects none from children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
